Look at the legs on that!

This Queen Anne style chair was languishing in a consignment shop and now it has a spicy new look!  The dashing coat of red paint gets your attention. As well, the contrasting seat material is not only funky but a durable fabric. According to the design gurus, mismatching dining chairs are in vogue. Imagine this chair at your dining room table....or it could brighten up the corner of a bedroom. The wonderful thing about this chair is that it will be a conversation piece wherever you put it. $129

Rolling, rolling, rolling...

Deceptively clever, this piece of folk art is very functional.  Organic hemp rope with interesting sailor knots and vintage rolling pins pair up for a crafty solution for hanging tea towels in the kitchen.  Might even come in handy if you feel the need to make a pie or discipline the husband... ooops...that's politically incorrect!  $75.

Wooden Trunk

At one time, apprentice carpenters built their own tool box as a right of passage. We run across lots of them. Some are very well made. Thinking that this was a tool box, we were delighted to find out that it wasn't.  This gorgeous wooden trunk was languishing in the corner of our favorite haunt with a covering of dust and at least ten axes stored in it, handles up.  The proprietor happily emptied it and drug it out for us to peruse..... it was love at first sight.  Quality construction, beautifully aged, and flawless hardware.  This very functional trunk will look good anywhere in your home. $349.

Hall Bench

This vintage wood bench is perfect by the front door for storage as well as to sit while tying your shoes. We find it is handy to put groceries on  as we enter the house. The top is hinged so it can store hats and mitts or the dog leash (or whatever).  Simple, sturdy, old, lovely. $199.

Partner Desk

This is the most unique desk we've come across.  This is called a partner desk. It was rescued from a railroad station in the Northern United States. As you can see it is designed for two people to work at the same time from either side.  In our case it is perfect for Bart's office with his split personality!  We really like all of the decor items we acquire, but this one will be missed. Although perfectly functional, This desk needs some love - which is reflected in the low price $499.  You and your 'other half' can discuss it and let us know ;) If you want some more details and photos please send us an email.

Ice Tongs Return!

This is a paper towel holder, what else would it be?  These vintage ice tongs sport a unique brass handle. Most ice tongs have a two piece handle making this one quite unusual but very functional.  It works fantastic as a paper towel holder....easy to use and load....most important, it makes us smile.  Very rare. $69

Dainty Amber Glow

This is a sweet little pendant light with a lot of style.  The shade measures only 5 inches across and leaves the small Edison radio bulb exposed.  Suspended through a hollow iron bracket on retro green cloth covered cord, this pendant lamp can easily be raised or lowered. We like how the amber glow from the low wattage bulb adds ambiance and shows off the patina on the copper shade, but a larger wattage bulb could be used to give more light if required.  A tiny vintage  funnel in it's previous life, this copper shade has a dint that is as charming as a dimple and has plenty of hard earned patina.  This lamp hangs beside one of our retro Art Deco posters and helps to draw the eye in that direction.  The lamp's dainty stature doesn't overpower the space it illuminates but becomes a focal point. Priced right at $225 - imagine this in your home.

This is how we roll!

Cast iron casters give this very functional vintage metal basket mobility and now it easily rolls where you need it.  We keep favorite books in it close at hand, but it could easily organize towels or toilet paper in the bathroom or potatoes or recycling in the kitchen. Shoes or mitts in the entry, gardening tools, even a laundry hamper... you get the idea.  Hmmm, maybe we need to keep this one... $99 and it's yours!
